Vice President for Institutional Research, Assessment and Planning 

The mission of the Office of Institutional Research, Assessment and Planning (ORIAP) is to coordinate and yield a unified response to the information needs of the university. This office functions as a mid-level management unit in the Office of the Provost reporting directly to the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs.

Dr. John A. Williams. The Vice President of Institutional Research, Assessment and Planning provides leadership and management in identifying institutional effectiveness issues with academic departments as well as administrative and support services offices relative to the University’s mission, purpose and strategic plan. The Vice President insures the effective integration of data gathering and analysis, strategic planning initiatives and maintains responsibility for developing, implementing and managing strategic survey analyses that provide the university with timely and accurate descriptions of our institutional profile, responsiveness and effectiveness. Provides direction for the institution’s planning and evaluation processes to demonstrate institutional effectiveness; overseas and coordinates the university’s PIEI reporting process for academic and non-academic units; insures the successful implementation of monitoring and assessment systems that track education outcomes on targeted measures in administrative, academic and support service areas.

Regularly collects, evaluates, and disseminates student learning outcomes data to campus constituents; coordinates the evaluation of classroom instruction, student learning and instructional personnel; provides technical assistance and coordinates the development and implementation of evaluation models to support externally funded or sponsored projects.

Insures the timely and efficient conduct of studies executed at the institutional level across academic disciplines and administrative functions that advance the university’s ability to make data-driven decisions consistent with the university’s mission and commensurate with available resources.
