Position: Scientific Laboratory Technician
Location: CAENS/GWCAES
(This is a temporary position)
Essential Duties
- Maintains glassware by picking-up, cleaning, washing, sterilizing and distributing
- General upkeep of the lab with weekly cleaning
- Maintains the inventory of the lab: placing needed orders: verifying receipt(s)
- Maintains plants in tissue culture (experience with sweet potato is preferred)
- Assists with field experiments and the maintaining of the plants in greenhouse
- Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data and selects corrective steps
- Assists project team with projects; attend/participate in project meetings
Other Responsibilities
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- At least a B.A. in plant Science or related field
- Knowledgeable in Plant Tissue Culture; Micropropagation of sweet potato; Bacterial Transformation; PCR; Gel Electrophoresis; Plant DNA; RNA Isolation; Sterilization
- Willingness and ability to work
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Provide excellent customer service in a courteous manner
Salary
$8.50 per hour
