Position:  Scientific Laboratory Technician         

Location:  CAENS/GWCAES

(This is a temporary position)

Essential Duties

• Maintains glassware by picking-up, cleaning, washing, sterilizing and distributing
• General upkeep of the lab with weekly cleaning
• Maintains the inventory of the lab: placing needed orders: verifying receipt(s)
• Maintains plants in tissue culture (experience with sweet potato is preferred)
• Assists with field experiments and the maintaining of the plants in greenhouse
• Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data and selects corrective steps
• Assists project team with projects; attend/participate in project meetings

Other Responsibilities

• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• At least a B.A. in plant Science or related field
• Knowledgeable in Plant Tissue Culture; Micropropagation of sweet potato; Bacterial Transformation; PCR; Gel Electrophoresis; Plant DNA; RNA  Isolation; Sterilization
• Willingness and ability to work
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Provide excellent customer service in a courteous manner

Salary

$8.50 per hour
