The College of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition Sciences (CAENS) at Tuskegee University integrates teaching, research, and Extension to advance academic excellence, scientific discovery, and community engagement.
CAENS prepares students for leadership roles in agriculture, natural resources, environmental sciences, food systems, and human nutrition while supporting small farmers, families, communities, and sustainable agricultural systems.
Through innovative programs, ethical practice, and hands-on learning, CAENS promotes food security, rural development, environmental stewardship, and improved quality of life across Alabama and beyond.

The legacy of CAENS traces back to the founding of Tuskegee University by Booker T. Washington in 1881 and the transformative research of Dr. George Washington Carver. Their vision emphasized hands-on agricultural education, self-sufficiency, and the use of science to improve the lives of farmers and communities.
Today, CAENS honors this tradition through progressive teaching and research programs that continue to advance agricultural innovation and address challenges in sustainability, health, and environmental change.
