The Faculty Senate is the representative body of the Tuskegee University faculty. Through shared governance, the Senate provides a forum for faculty to contribute to discussions and decisions concerning academic affairs, faculty matters, educational policies, and other issues affecting the University community.
The faculty as a whole, "has the primary responsibility for such fundamental areas as curriculum, subject matter and methods of instruction, research, fundamental areas as curriculum, subject matter and methods of instruction, research, faculty status, and those aspects of student life which relate to the educational process." The faculty delegates these responsibilities to its duly elected representatives who serve as its Executive Body and who shall constitute the Faculty Senate.
The Faculty Senate is commited to:
- Promoting meaningful faculty participation in shared governance
- Representing the interests and perspectives of faculty
- Supporting academic excellence and faculty success
- Promoting transparency, communications, and collaboration
- Providing a forum for faculty ideas, questions, concerns, and solutions
