Tuskegee Announces Homecoming 101: The Renaissance with Scheduling Adjustments

Football players running onto the fieldTuskegee University welcomes alumni and friends to join the university in celebrating Homecoming 101: The Renaissance, Oct. 26 through Nov. 2.

To accommodate our alumni, students, and friends in a secure manner, several changes are being made for which everyone should be prepared. In addition to providing shuttles to campus because parking will be limited to those with university IDs, the university will end all public events on Friday and Saturday by 9 p.m.

“We are looking forward to welcoming alumni and friends to campus to celebrate ‘Homecoming 101: The Renaissance’ with us,” said Dr. Mark A. Brown, President and CEO. “You will be able to walk the yard and take in the festivities, but with a few changes."

“We are operating with an abundance of caution to ensure everyone who attends is able to enjoy themselves safely,” he said. “We join other universities in adjusting Homecoming plans. Our goal is to provide exclusive activities for students and alumni to appreciate.”

Events will end sooner than has been our practice. Safety protocols will include metal detectors and hand wands. Weapons are prohibited on campus. Shuttles to the campus will begin running Friday morning through Sunday.

The university is hosting a concert for students featuring Hip Hop sensations Boosie and Bunna B. This concert will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday in Chappie James Arena and will only be open to students with university IDs.

Baton Rouge native Boosie is bringing his southern hip hop flair to thrill our students. Atlanta native Bunna B will take the stage as well, making the Wednesday night event for students only a night most students will not want to miss.

When alumni hit the campus, they will be able to mix and mingle with classmates they have not seen starting at 1 p.m. on Friday on the John A. Kenney Hall Lawn/Parking Lot (Tent Event - RSVP Required) and during the Homecoming All-Class Reunion Mixer. Alumni will also be able to reunite with classmates in their departments as a variety of events are scheduled for several days and some are virtual. The campus will be open to alumni on Friday to move freely to reminisce with friends. After the game on Saturday, those who attended will have wrist bands that will allow easy access back across the street to visit their favorite campus destinations.

A full schedule of Homecoming activities will be available on the university website and via social media.  Tickets for the game must be purchased in advance on the university website.
